Bogs & Fens: A Guide to the Peatland Plants of the Northeastern United States and Adjacent Canada Paperback – June 7, 2016 by Ronald B. Davis (UPNE)

This was obviously a labor of love for Dr. Davis. This is a great resource if you're a bog walker or fen fanatic like myself. I like the fact that the book emphasizes visiting only those bogs or fens which have boardwalks through them to help protect these fragile habitats from being loved to death. The arrangement of the book is very straightforward, and the multiple photos make species identification relatively easy. The text is succinct but informative and interesting. I also like the guide to relative occurrence of the different plants within the different habitats. My only criticism, and it's relatively minor, is that range maps for each plant species would have been nice but would have made the guide bulky and less valuable in the field. Overall it's a wonderful book if you have an appreciation for these special habitats.
