Shall Not Hate: A Gaza Doctor's Journey on the Road to Peace and Human Dignity Audio CD – Audiobook, CD, Unabridged by Izzeldin Abuelaish (Author), Patrick Lawlor (Narrator)(Tantor Media ( Audio CD)/ Random House ( Hardcover)
Very interesting to read of the Jewish/Palestinian conflict from a Palestinian's point of view. One can only feel great sadness at the pettiness and debilitating bureaucracy to which the Palestinian's are subjected, to say nothing of the sometimes excessive violence meted out to them. However, they are reluctant to bring an end to the bombing,to end the conflict by discussion and keeping to peace terms that are agreed.
This true story of the life of Dr Izzeldin Abuelaish is heartbreaking. Yet through all the wickedness, the humiliation, the deliberate cruelty and finally the terrible tragedies that he has suffered, he has not been left bitter and twisted but instead still loves Israel and its people and teaches his children to do likewise. The book's title is "I shall not hate" and reading his true story is a witness to a love that is stronger than evil. I find it hard to write this review, to put into words how much his story has affected me. To know the facts about Gaza, to hold strong opinions on the rights and wrongs of what is happening there, is one thing but to read this well written account of one person's life there takes you up close. A story that is certain to move you, probably to tears.
