Keto Restaurant Favorites: More Than 175 Tasty Classic Recipes Made Fast, Fresh, and Healthy Paperback – July 11, 2017 by Maria Emmerich (Victory Belt Publishing) (IBRCookBooks)
What a fabulous book! For those who are following a low carb or Keto plan, this book will fill in the gaps where other recipe books fall short. We are a culture that loves our restaurant meals—but following a healthy meal plan often means giving up some of these favorite foods. “Keto Restaurant Favorites” to the rescue!! The recipes in the book are divided up by type of cuisine (Italian, Mexican, Asian, Indian, “Fast Casual”, etc) so you can search for recipes based on your food cravings. There are also several indexes in the back to assist you in locating specific recipes, and I especially love the index that includes a small snapshot of each recipe!! The book begins with a brief introduction with need-to-know info, but the majority of this book is pages of fabulous recipes. Part of the intro does include “Top Tips for Eating Keto at Restaurants”, which is also quite useful. As you get into the book, almost all recipes have an accompanying pic to whet your appetite, and there’s nutrition info as well (calories, fat, protein, carbs and fiber). The Emmerich’s use a “total carb” rather than “net carb” approach. If you prefer net carbs, you can do the math yourself, since fiber info is also included. I’ve tried a number of these recipes so far. For my kids, they loved “Thickest Chocolate Shake”, although we used the vanilla alternate version. This was designed to emulate a Wendy’s Frosty. My whole family enjoyed “Sugo Bianco” (I included a pic), which is a spin off of a meal from Macaroni Grill which features grilled chicken and a rich white sauce (that includes bacon and Parmesan cheese) over a pasta made from cabbage. I just had a serving from the leftovers and it’s even better 2 days later! I’m looking forward to exploring this book more and making recipes that emulate my family’s favorite restaurant meals, but in a healthier format. Way to go, Emmerich’s! You guys are outstanding!!
