Here Be Sexist Vampires: Deep in Your Veins Audiobook – Unabridged Suzanne Wright (Author), Justine Eyre (Narrator), P.J. Ochlan (Narrator), Tantor Audio (Publisher) (Tantor Audio))

This is the first book that I ever read by Suzanne Wright and I’ve gone on to read everything she’s written to date. I would definitely recommend this series to a friend as it’s well written, contains a number of great characters and doesn’t ever get boring.

The story is told from the perspective of both Sam and Jared with the narrative of the chapters shifting when necessary. You’ll come to love Sam, Jared (eventually), Fletcher and the gang, I’m sure. The characters are well rounded and very believable. Not only do we get to watch Sam grow throughout this book, but Jared, Chico, Slaphead and the gang too. It’s not a coming of age novel, but it is a novel in which almost all of the characters learn and grow in one way or another.

The only real issue I have from this book – and it’s a very small one - is that you never find out just how long Luther has been waiting to meet Sam. I often wonder if he had a vision of her and if he did, what exactly his vision of her entailed. While this knowledge may not be necessary to enjoy the story, I for one would love to know the story (if there is one) behind the comment of; ‘It is a pleasure to meet you at last.’

If you’re anything like me, you’ll adore the turbulent relationship Sam and Jared have. My favourite scene has to be the fight scene between the two of them. Will she earn her place in the Squad or will she be returning home due a certain dark haired, sexist vampire? You’ll have to read to find out. I promise you won’t regret it if you do.

Quote: And then the insane bitch turned back into Houdini. ~ Jared
