Author David Kaufman writes an exhaustive history of Doris Day's days and nights in show business and her personal life as well .There is everything you would want to know about each stage appearance and movie production. The book is over 500 pages long and is tedious in places .We read about Doris' three marriages and affairs not at all like the perpetual virgin roles she played in her movies. She became a Christian Scientist although she took up drinking wine and smoking cigarettes at times. She had a good relationship with her son Terry who was in the singing and recording business. Doris denies that she had an interracial affair with Dodgers baseball player, Maury Wills in the 60's. He confirms it was true in his own book. The book only touches on her and Paul McCartney the Beatle. I remember it was reported in one of the tabloids that they had an affair. You won't find any of this in the book. The book is well written and well researched and will keep you occupied for days.I admit I did skim some of it.I have always loved her movies, especially the ones with Rock Hudson and Tony Randall. She was beautiful on screen with perfect hair, makeup and clothes. She is now in her 90's and still beautiful. The book is loaded with pictures too.
