Baby's Very First Fingertrail Playbook Cats/Dogs Board book by Stella Baggott (USborne) (IBRChildrensBooks)
USBORNE BABY'S VERY FIRST PLAYBOOK CATS & DOGS
From the "Baby's Very First Play Book" series
by Fiona Watt ; illustrated by Stella Baggott
Age Range: 0 - 2
A simple, interactive, lift-the-flap board book for babes.
Each page spread includes brightly colored illustrations of friendly-looking cats and dogs and textured tracks, or “fingertrails,” for little ones to explore. These indented tracks are worked into the illustrations, serving as dog leashes, kitten tails, or the flight paths of birds, for example. Each page spread also includes a flap which features a question (“Who’s hiding behind the bush?” or “Who’s in the kennel?” for example) and reveals an animal or two when lifted. This pattern is consistent with the odd exception of a single page spread that lacks a question; this particular spread features many cats in a nighttime scene, a flap in the form of a garbage can lid with a mouse beneath it, and no text other than “purrrr,” “meow,” and “squeak!” Some strategic die cuts add another layer of visual and tactile interest. The simple text, appealing illustrations, and interactivity make this one an appropriate choice for babies and toddlers.
Put this one into the busy hands of little ones just beginning to explore books. Good for solo exploration and one-on-one sharing. (Board book. 6 mos.-2)
