Who Really Was the Biblical David? Hardcover – April 15, 2018 by Israel Drazin (Gefen Publishing Group)

How many times have you wondered why there are doublets in the bible, that is, the telling of a parable or story twice? What may seem like a symbolic gesture, may not have been so innocent, meaning what many have thought to be as biblical truth may have been transformed to make the story more sensational. Dr. Drazin is an expert at weaving his way through the Bible and pointing the difference and contradictions. At times, he purposely and tantalizingly leaves the reader hanging, not really giving the answer, but merely hinting that it may not be as it seems or what we may have viewed as the traditional teaching, really may have been the work of two different authors redacted into one story. The climax of the book, at least for me, was a shocker which I have missed throughout all my years studying the bible. How I missed something so obvious leaves me dumb founded. Let’s just say, the Bible portrays two biblical David, one in chapter 16 and another in chapter 17, one who was a fearless boy warrior who slew the giant Goliath and the other a good looking, well manner boy, who played the harp for King Saul. Can these two Davids be the same person or was there two sides of the story, one being a mystical hero figure, while the second being a commoner who found favor in the eyes of YHVH and rose as the King of Israel. This book is a great read and recommended for both Jews and Christians!
