Can Israel Survive the “Phantom Nation” Onslaught?

In Phantom Nation, a  two volume book, definitive work ,Sha’i ben-Tekoa examines the “Palestinian” assault on Israel, as well as the nuclear threat posed by Iran. He also discusses how the Soviet communists have worked hand-in-glove with the Arabs and Muslims against Israel, in the name of the “liberation of Palestine.” Can Israel survive? As Ben-Takoa says, it is imperative to “deprogram” the buzz-words and catch phrases that constitute the current campaign to destroy Israel.

“Remember, there was no Palestine as a state. It was part of the Ottoman Empire, and I think that we have invented the Palestinian people, who are in fact Arabs and are historically part of the Arab community. ~~ Newt Gingrich

Who are the “Palestinians”? Can you identify their language, history, battles fought or even the foods they eat? If you’re drawing a blank, you’re not alone. You don’t know them because they don’t exist.

American-Israeli political commentator and journalist Sha’i ben-Tekoa boldly calls the “Palestinians” a hallucination of a nation. They are, and always have been, Arabs and overwhelmingly Muslim, two group identities far more historical than “Palestinian.” In his new book, PHANTOM NATION: Inventing the “Palestinians” as the Obstacle to Peace, he supports his claim with solid historical research.

Prior to the Madrid Peace Conference in 1991, the Office of Israel’s Prime Minister Yitzhak Shamir tasked ben-Tekoa with a research project on voting patterns in the United Nations. What he discovered was astounding. From the birth of the UN in 1945 until 1970 – three years after Israel conquered the West Bank in the Six-Day War – there was no mention of any “Palestinian” nation.

In a sweeping history of Israel and how, over the last generation, its enemy’s propaganda has re-written history, Phantom Nation makes the case that Palestinian Nationalism has replaced anti-Semitism as this generation’s “legitimate” pretext for murdering Jews.

Original and controversial,Phantom Nation asserts:
  • The Arabs are as anti-Semitic today as the Germans were during the 1930s and 1940s
  • The “Palestinian” national identity is no easier to describe the the Emperor’s new clothes – there is nothing there
  • The Palestinian Liberation Organization (PLO) is a syndicate of terrorists who have twisted the minds of Judeo-Christian, Western civilization into calling them legitimate, nationalist freedom-fighters
  • Today’s “Palestinians” have always been, and remain, Arabs who have a history of chronic violence between themselves, against other people and religions, including and especially the Jews.
  • Islam is a crusading faith and totalitarian ideology which shares with Fascism, Communism and Nazism a fanatical hatred of the Jewish people.

“There is no peace process and there never has been one,” says ben-Tekoa, “for the leaders of the so-called ‘Palestinians’ are first of all Muslims and, as Muslims, their religion simply cannot tolerate freedom for Jews.”

Sha’i ben-Tekoa was born, raised and educated in the United States. He majored in Comparative Religion at Columbia University in New York and did graduate study at the University of Chicago. A traveler in Arab lands, he participated in Israel’s Yom Kippur War of 1973. Once an award-winning actor, he turned to journalism on the Arab-Israeli conflict and Islamic terrorism, publishing in the Wall Street Journal, National Review, Midstream, Congress Monthly and other publications.
