Paris in Stride: An Insider's Walking Guide Paperback – March 27, 2018 by Jessie Kanelos Weiner and Sarah Moroz (Rizzoli)

One doesn't even need to purchase a plane ticket to Paris to get a feel for the Parsian city, it's all here in this compact walking guide. Despite the unmerited comments about the font and lack of maps (there are plenty, with starting points and path), this is everything you would need to find the hidden treasures speckled throughout the town. The authors did a very thoughtful approach to make this guide not user friendly, but to also paint a small picture full of enough detail and description that the reader will understand what to expect historically, culturally and experientially. Accompanied by Jessie Kanelos Weiner's lavish watercolors, the book is chock full of all the information one would need traveling the less travelled areas with clever and super helpful tips such as "wine vocabulary" and "how to handle the cheese counter" that will have you appearing less like a awkward first time visitor and more like a seasoned pro. Bottom line, if you're going to Paris, get this book. This is a  local’s treasure map to the sites where Parisians know to go to be oh-so-Parisian.

Finally, the “must-do, must-visit, must-see” travel list given to you by the Parisian friend you’ve been longing to have. Charmingly illustrated throughout, this practical guide will transport readers to the delightful sites and discoveries of Paris. Vibrant watercolors illustrate destinations including architectural marvels, gardens, historical highlights, cultural hubs, markets, food and wine favorites, and lots of little “je ne sais quoi’s” that make Paris so magical. Cultural musings, accessible histories, anecdotes, and informative details accompany the illustrations throughout, making this volume truly as practical as it is beautiful.

Paris in Stride: An Insider’s Walking Guide (Rizzoli) is a handy-size illustrated guidebook by two ex-pats, Jessie Kanelos Weiner and Sarah Moroz, who provide insights into the “real Paris” they know and love.
