It Hurts When I Poop! a Story for Children Who Are Scared to Use the Potty Paperback – June 1, 2007 by Howard J Bennett M.D. (Author), M S Weber (Contributor)(Magination Press) (IBRChildrensBooks)
This book is NOT about being scared of using the toilet. This is a book about a child who is scared to poop because it hurts! If you are looking for a book about toilet training, this is NOT your book. If your child has issues with hard, overly big poops that cause them to shake, shiver and cry, even to the point of rectal bleeding, this IS the book for you and your child!
When my kiddo was initally potty trained at age 2 1/2, everything was fine. Then, in Kindergarten when he went to school all day (8:30-3 PM), he refused to poop in any toilet that wasn't his, or when I wasn't there. Thus, the poop problems began.
He is now in first grade and he will hold it for several days until it starts to come out on his own. I brought this book BACK out (I bought it when he was potty training, but it wasn't really pertinent then) and now he totally relates to the main character, Ryan. Things are getting better; we have a point of reference to discuss now when I remind him that he should at least try to poop or when it's time to eat vegetables and fruit.
If your child has poop issues, get this book. IF YOU ARE INITIALLY POTTY TRAINING, DON'T BOTHER
