Guarding Diana: Protecting the Princess Around the World Hardcover – November 1, 2017 by Inspector Ken Wharfe (Author), Robert Jobson (Author) (John Blake)
This book has individual chapters based on destinations that Diana traveled to both while she was married and after she was divorced. Each chapter discusses the clothes she wore, who she met, the purpose of her visit, and the author (Ken Wharfe) provides 1-2 anecdotes about the trip -- things such as any difficulty he had in making arrangements or funny things Diana said to him in private, etc.
The book is pure fluff. Lot of photos but they have all been seen in a million other publications. Took me several hours to read the entire book. There is no new information here and there is no fascinating or intriguing information. Ken Wharfe, undoubtedly, knows many secrets about Diana and will probably never divulge them. The book seems like it could have been written in 20 minutes
Wherever Diana, Princess of Wales (security code name "Purple Five Two") went, in public or private, she was shadowed by her Scotland Yard personal protection officer, Inspector Ken Wharfe, whose job it was it keep her safe. The SAS-trained officer from the Yard’s elite Special Operations 14, Royalty and Diplomatic Protection Department, was with the Princess every step of the way. In the six years that Ken was at Diana’s side they traveled hundreds of thousands of miles together, sharing secrets, laughter, and tears on a truly extraordinary journey. This is his exclusive story.
